Dr. Tong Van Hai – Deputy Director of the National Institute of Plant Sciences shares with farmers the characteristics of black soldier fly larvae.
Based on the experience sharing, the farmer members of Thai Thuy district directly visited the model of the area for raising larvae and calcium worms at Sinh Thai An Dong farm. It is known that raising calcium worms is one of the 5 models of the Waste Treatment project that the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers’ Association directed the Provincial Farmers’ Association to implement in Kien Xuong, Dong Hung and Thai Thuy districts in the past 3 years. This model, initially only applied by a few households, has now developed to more than 90 households, with very positive results. In addition to its economic value, raising calcium worms also creates microbial fertilizers with many useful properties, serving farmers in fertilizing crops.
