Phát triển kinh tế gắn với bảo vệ môi trường

Aiming at sustainable agricultural development, many farmers have boldly implemented economic development models associated with environmental protection, not only increasing income but also contributing to building green, clean and beautiful countryside.

Ms. Vu Thi Phuong, Minh Tan commune (Kien Xuong) applies the technique of fermenting crop by-products to make food for cows and goats.

Taking advantage of the large amount of straw after harvest, Mr. Le Chi Tai, Binh Dinh commune (Kien Xuong) combined it with rice husks, grass and used biological products to make thick biological bedding to raise chickens. His work not only contributed to reducing the burning of straw in the locality but also helped the chickens to always grow and develop well. Mr. Tai shared: Currently, I am maintaining the raising of about 600 chickens in the form of a flock. After implementing the model of raising chickens on thick biological bedding, I have solved the problem of cleaning the barn and treating livestock waste. The barn is always clean, airy, and odorless, helping the chickens to be healthy and less susceptible to disease. I also reduced the time spent cleaning the barn after each crop, reducing labor and investment costs. In addition, Mr. Tai also researched and applied the calcium worm farming model into production. According to him, raising calcium worms brings many benefits to farmers. Calcium worms can help him process a large amount of organic waste from household activities, and also use calcium worms as a source of nutritious food for chickens. Mr. Tai added: From applying these two models to livestock farming, it contributes to reducing environmental pollution and improving family economy with an income of about 100 million VND/year. After the difficulties in livestock farming due to the impact of African swine fever, Mr. Hoang Xuan Tung, Director of An Dong Ecological Industrial Services Joint Stock Company, Hung Ha town (Hung Ha) has always been concerned about finding a sustainable livestock farming solution in the direction of biosafety and environmental protection. Therefore, he has worked hard to research and coordinate research to put the black soldier fly farming model into production. Mr. Tung said: Black soldier fly larvae are rich in protein, calcium and minerals necessary for livestock, so they can be used as a nutritious food source in livestock farming. In addition, they have a very strong ability to decompose organic waste, creating a source of organic fertilizer for plants. Therefore, we have conducted research and developed products processed from black soldier fly larvae to serve the agricultural sector, including fresh black soldier fly larvae, dried larval powder, hydrolyzed protein solution, etc. The products have been used in livestock and crop farming in farmers’ models with initial high efficiency. Mr. Le Hong Son, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers’ Association, said: After more than 2 years of implementation in the province, the project “Propaganda and mobilization of farmers to treat waste in Vietnam, contributing to the international community’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions” has achieved many positive results. Along with doing a good job of propaganda, the Provincial Farmers’ Association has coordinated to organize 30 training courses on classification and organic waste treatment techniques for 900 farmer members to participate. Along with that, the Association has handed over 9 agricultural by-product choppers and 15 garbage bins to members and farmers with a total value of over 73 million VND. Up to now, the whole province has replicated over 1,940 models applying the method of fermenting crop by-products as animal feed, over 1,630 models of composting organic fertilizer from crop by-products, 130 models of raising chickens on thick biological bedding, 1,340 models of raising calcium worms, and nearly 500 models of raising earthworms. In the coming time, farmers’ associations at all levels will continue to promote propaganda and mobilization to maintain and replicate effective waste treatment models in the whole province, contributing to increasing farmers’ income and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting the environment.
